Design 101: Living Hell

Around the time of this project, the semester was passing the halfway point, and it was cold, snowy, miserable and dark out. Everyone was getting worn out, myself included. This project lived up to it's name for me, it was pure, living hell. I believe this is an 18x26 piece, and those letters were all hand cut. The worst part? I ran out of black paper on the weekend so I had to use black CARDSTOCK, which is way harder to cut, and as you can see, I had to cut LOTS of it. Ouch...

But anyways, this project was about expressive type. We had a short list of phrases to choose from and we had to illustrate the phrase using only type found in the phrase. I hated typography before this class, and this project made me hate it more. But I've sort of gotten over that, can't say I want to be a typographer, but I'm way more sensitive and learned about type and font.
